Visit the stunning gardens of Great Dixter created by the late Christopher Lloyd. His home and the grounds open to visitors only 15 minutes from Camber.
Dungeness – 20 mins, is an eerie but enchanting place, the only desert in the UK dwarfed by the nuclear power station it was the home of filmmaker Derek Jarman’s and his famous garden plus the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway, a minature railway station which is a great way to see Romney Marsh and a favourite with children.
The new Jerwood Gallery sits proudly on the sea front in Hastings surrounded by tall black weather-boarded fishing huts, take a walk round the old town – a vibrant area full of interesting independent shops.
Rye boasts many art galleries, September hosts the Rye Festival where literature, music and theatre take centre stage. November hosts the annual Rye Firework Display with a procession through the streets of Rye by the Sussex bonfire societies.
